What did Islam say about suicide ?
Islam is the religion of Peace. Not only the Peace of universe but the peace of mind / peace of soul . That’s the reason the rate of suicide attempts is lesser in Muslims and higher in Non Muslims. Another interesting point the rate of suicide attempts is greater in men as compared to women( because women’s are tolerator)
Global estimates:
The first global estimates on suicide mortality began in 1990s as a single World Bank-commissioned study on general mortality data compiled by the WHO as the first work of its kind on the (GBD)Iglobal burden of diseasein the following years the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluationacted as the coordinating center for the study then resulted in the collaboration between several researchers and institutions from many countries.
About one person in 5,000-15,000 dies by suicideevery year,it is estimated that the global rate is down as compared to last decade. In high-incomemodernised countries male and female rates of suicidal behaviors differ while women are reportedly more prone to suicidal thoughts, rates of suicide are higher among men (suicide in men has been described as a “silent epidemic”).
